As we approach the new year we all have goals that we wish to accomplish. We all have good intentions of the year ahead and a fresh start is just what the doctor ordered.
However even with all our good intentions, we often fail to reach the levels of achievement that we had originally been so enthusiastic about reaching. Why does this happen?
Here are 5 New Year’s Decisions, which I guarantee, will help you to achieve your goals in the new year.
Stop Wasting Time
Successful people will always say that there is one resource in this world that is precious above all else, time. It’s so easy to become consumed by what’s going on around us, and it is often this consumption that causes us to waste so much of our valuable time. We say yes too often, and end up spending our time in an non constructive manner.
Stop wasting time on things that are not really important to you. Say no once and a while. Plan out your calendar to include only events & activities that are beneficial to you.
Live a Healthy Lifestyle
When I was younger I struggled with sports, and I often found myself the weaker opponent in many activities. However as soon as I turned 16 I joined the local gym, and several years later… things have changed in my favour.
Take this new year as an opportunity to plan out your meals and exercise routines. Only eat healthy, wholesome foods and visit the gym at least twice weekly. This will not only improve your physique but also boost your self-confidence.
Give Yourself a Promotion at Work
How often do you wake up thinking something along the lines off “awwww I wish I could stay in bed and not go to work today”? Lets change that in the new year.
On your first night before work in the new year, spend 10 minutes to reflect on what you do like about your current job. Make a list. Then write down 5 things that you are getting better at on a daily basis as a direct result of going to work. Frame them. Now feel anything but excited and determined going to work, I dare you.
Improve Your Relationships All Round
We are often blind when it comes to people and our relationships with them. We may spend a lot of time with certain people, and this may actually be causing more harm than good. You may perhaps be in a romantic relationship, where your other half is holding you back. Love can sometimes cloud our judgement and we all must be aware of it’s effects.
This new year, stand back and take a look at your relationships. Form stronger bonds with your family. Spend more time with your friends. End any toxic relationships you may currently be in for the sake of moving forward with your own life.
Step Outside Your Comfort Zone
You can live your entire life without stepping outside your comfort zone, and who’s to say you won’t still enjoy yourself in the process? However the fact of the matter is that you will never truly succeed unless you are prepared to step outside your comfort zone.
Take the time to write down several new years resolutions that will drive your forward in your own ambitions. Choose goals that will force you face your fears, do something new and exciting, chase your dreams or all of the above!
Only by chasing what we previously thought impossible will we ever find out how strong we really are and what heights we can truly reach.
“The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written. We can help write that story by setting goals.” – Melody Beattie
